"Instead of getting defensive, say, 'Thanks for letting me know your thoughts. I'll consider them.'" - Henry Cloud

Easier said than done. It's difficult to hear criticism about ourselves. Our automatic reaction is defensiveness, anger, denial.

Sometimes when someone criticizes us, it has nothing to do with us. It is based on that person's own insecurities and inner frustrations.

Sometimes when someone criticizes us, it is because it is the truth, or there is at least some truth in what they are saying.

Maybe you will walk away and say 'that's simply not true', and move on with your life. Maybe you will walk away and say 'there is some truth to that', and decide to make changes.

WEEKLY WELLNESS TIP: This week, when you're given criticism, remember there is no benefit to becoming defensive and angry. Instead, reflect on what was said. There is never harm in self-reflection.
