"My friend...care for your psyche...know thyself, for once we know ourselves, we may learn to care for ourselves" -Socrates
I never know how to write a Weekly Wellness after a tragedy like this. There are no words. Even though we deal with tragedy, illness, and death every day. Even though we deliver terrible news to people every day. This is different.
I can tell you that however you feel and whatever you are doing to cope is ok. I myself oscillate between crying, feeling angry, immersing myself in the news, and trying to distract myself with mundane every day tasks, so I am not emotionally paralyzed by it all.
There's no right answer. There's no right way to react or to feel. I can only encourage you to take care of yourself today. Let yourself feel the emotions that come to you. Let yourself take a break. Recognize that even if you're doing something else or thinking about something else, your being may be affected by the overwhelming sadness, anger, and emotions of others around you. Give yourself what you need to get through today.
