"If the problem is the workplace, you can't say, 'let's teach physicians mindfulness' and expect it to fix the problem. I think mindfulness is a great skill to have, but it implies that you are the problem and you have to change." - Jodi Eckleberry-Hunt
Someone once told me she didn't understand why work seemed so overwhelming. She wondered what was wrong with her that she couldn't handle it better.
Two years of covid. Emergency room full of boarders. Short staffed. Overworked. Under-resourced.
There is nothing wrong with you.
You're allowed to feel overwhelmed when you are put in an overwhelming situation.
You are allowed to be angry when you're not provided with proper staffing.
You shouldn't feel weak because you cried on the way home.
This job is difficult. How you're feeling has nothing to do with your character or your strength.
WEEKLY WELLNESS TIP: This week, remind yourself that this job inherently is hard. You're not alone. We're all struggling. The problem is not you. There is nothing wrong with the way that you feel.
