"Balance is not better time management, but better boundary management. Balance means making choices and enjoying those choices." - Betsy Jacobson

There are so many external forces that contribute negatively to our wellness that are out of our control. Angry and insulting patients. Expectations to see more patients with less resources. Working over hours to cover staffing shortages.

But it's also important to sometimes step back and ask ourselves how we contribute to our own sense of burnout.

Do you have your work email on your phone, essentially carrying work with you everywhere you go?

Do you offer to come in on your days off to participate in meetings to convenience others while inconveniencing yourself?

Do you sign up for more projects than you'd like, to please others, or because you have a hard time saying no?

WEEKLY WELLNESS TIP: This week, ask yourself how you contribute to your own sense of burnout and consider taking steps towards a better work life balance.
