"Sleep is the best meditation" - Dalai Lama
How much sleep do you need? Some people can sleep for 5 or 6 hours and have plenty of energy. Some get 8 or 9 hours and feel sluggish all day.
Many of us look at sleep as a bother, an impediment to all the other things we could be doing. Or we get down on ourselves when we look at the clock and have been asleep for 10 hours or take a long nap in the middle of the day. Or we compare ourselves to others and feel inadequate for needing more sleep than they do.
Everyone is different. Everyone needs a different amount of sleep. It's not a competition. You're not a lazier or weaker person because you need more sleep. There are no studies out there to say how much sleep YOU need.
Getting the amount of sleep that you need, no matter what that amount is, will make you and those around you happier and more well.
WEEKLY WELLNESS TIP: This week, get as much sleep as you need. Make sleep a priority, and take note of how much better you feel physically and emotionally.
